What are the requirements for a safety rope?
2023-11-30 10:40:50

High strength, wear-resistant, durable, resistant to mildew, acid and alkali, simple and lightweight. Instructions for use: Every time you use a safety rope, you must conduct an appearance inspection. Pay attention to the inspection during use. It must be inspected within half to a year. Test once, as long as the main components are not damaged. If any damage or deterioration is found, report it immediately and stop using it to ensure safe operation.

The safety rope must be inspected before use. If it is found to be damaged, stop using it. When wearing it, tighten the movable clip and do not come into contact with open flames or chemicals.

Keep the safety rope clean at all times and store it properly after use. If it becomes dirty, wash it with warm water and soapy water and dry it in the shade. Do not soak it in hot water or burn it in the sun.

After one year of use, a comprehensive inspection must be carried out, and 1% of the used parts must be taken out for a tensile test. All components shall be deemed to be qualified if they are not damaged or significantly deformed (those that have been tested shall not be used again)

Safety ropes are protective equipment to prevent workers working at heights from falling. Because the greater the height of the fall, the greater the impact force. Therefore, the safety rope must meet the following two basic conditions:

(1) It must be strong enough to withstand the impact of a human body falling;

(2) It can prevent the human body from falling to a certain limit that can cause injury (that is, it should be able to pick up the human body before this limit and stop falling). What needs to be further explained about this condition is that when a human body falls downward from a height, if it exceeds a certain limit, even if the person is caught with a rope, the impact force will be too great, which will cause damage to the human body's internal organs and lead to death. For this reason, the length of the rope cannot be too long and must have a certain limit.

Safety ropes usually assess two strength indicators in terms of strength, namely tensile strength and impact resistance. National standards require that the tensile strength (ultimate tensile force) of seat belts and their string members must be greater than the longitudinal tensile force caused by the weight of the human body in the direction of falling.

In terms of impact strength, the impact strength of safety ropes and accessories must be able to withstand the impact caused by the human body falling in the falling direction. Usually, the size of the impact force is mainly determined by the weight of the faller and the falling distance (i.e. impact distance). The falling distance is closely related to the length of the safety rope lanyard. The longer the lanyard, the greater the impact distance and the greater the impact force. The theory proves that the human body will be injured if it receives an impact of 900kg. Therefore, the length of the safety rope lanyard should be limited to a very short range while ensuring operational activities.
