What should you pay attention to when using boat ropes?
2023-11-30 10:57:01

Knots used in the wild are often life-saving tools during mountain climbing or rescue operations, so you need to pay more attention to safety. Here are a few things you need to pay attention to when using ropes:

Fix the ends of the rope - Although the climbing ropes sold on the market have been processed, if you want to cut the boat ropes sold in meters into appropriate lengths for use, you must fix the two ends of the rope. If this is neglected, the cord ends may unravel during use causing a hazard.

Check the rope before use - any rope with scratches or kinks may break during use, so it must be inspected before use, and if there are any kinks, it must be restored. Don't get the rope dirty - Dirt is the main cause of rope deterioration and can also make it less strong. In the wild, do not place the rope directly on the ground, and be careful not to let oil stains, etc. adhere to the rope. In addition, be sure to remove any dirt on the rope after use.

Do not step on the rope - the rope is often scarred or deteriorated due to being stepped on. In addition, if there are pebbles running into the inside of the rope, there may be a risk of breaking when carrying a load. Especially in the mountains in winter, if the anti-slip nails on the shoes are stepped on, they can no longer be used. When rock climbing, you often step on the climbing rope without realizing it, so please be careful about this.

Do not get the rope wet - even if it is a waterproof rope, try to avoid using it in situations where it is easy to get the rope wet, because a rope that has absorbed water is not only heavy, but also slippery and very difficult to use.

Understand the safe use of ropes and load-bearing - the weight that a rope can bear is determined by the thickness, material, usage conditions, etc. When purchasing a rope, be sure to explain the purpose of use to the store clerk, and then choose a safety rope that can withstand the weight of the purpose. Climbing ropes with a thickness of 10 to 11 centimeters commonly sold on the market can be used safely even in situations where they have to bear the weight of the human body.

Do not let the rope come into contact with sharp objects - when the rope touches sharp objects such as rock edges and bears a heavy load, the risk of the rope breaking increases. Nowadays, safety guidelines have been established for climbing ropes. In this situation, the use of climbing ropes or ropes is absolutely prohibited. If it is absolutely necessary, it must be protected with a towel to avoid direct contact with sharp objects.

Do not put sudden weight on the rope - this will cause the rope to be scarred, even if it is not visible on the surface, it may be broken internally. Therefore, you need to pay attention to try not to put too much load on the rope.

Don't borrow rope - there is nothing more dangerous than a rope you don't know the conditions under which it has been used. This is because if a rope that has been subjected to sudden weight is used without knowing it, there is a possibility that the rope will break. Therefore, absolutely avoid borrowing a rope that you have used from others, or lending your own rope to others.
